This is the most loved recipe in my Youtube Channel (Around 5 million views) This is an easy chocolate cake recipe which is moist and dense. A quick and easy recipe that any beginner can easily make . I have added a video of an improved version , as per the comments from the viewers, here .

Step 1

Preheat oven to 200 degrees Celsius (390 Fahrenheit)

Step 2

Butter a 9-inch cake pan.

Step 3

Mix together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt with a hand whisk or a hand mixer

Step 4

Add eggs, buttermilk, warm water, oil, and vanilla. Mix gently until well combined minutes.

Step 5

Pour the batter to the prepared cake pan

Step 6

Bake for 40-45 minutes in a 200C (390 F) oven until a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.

Step 7

Cool on wire racks for 15 minutes and then turn out the cakes onto the racks and allow to cool completely.

Step 8

Frost with your favorite frosting and enjoy!

Tips:
Make sure not to over mix the batter Some lumps in the batter is absolutely ok.
The consistency of this batter is a bit runny but don’t worry it
will bake perfectly in the oven. Depending upon the consistency of buttermilk you use the consistency of batter may vary. You can skip or reduce the quantity of hot water if you feel the batter is too runny.

 

Alternative ingredients:
For Eggless Version :

  • 1/4 cup of plain yogurt per egg
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar+ 1 teaspoon baking powder whisked together per egg
  • 1/4 cup mashed banana per egg
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce per egg

Buttermilk substitute : add 1 tbsp vinegar or lemon juice to 1 cup milk and let it stand for 10 minutes Butter can be replaced with same quantity of any vegetable oil. Then reduce the amount of hot water to half
